Alec was born in London, England. At 3 years old, his family emigrated from London to Rhodesia ( later renamed Zimbabwe) in Africa

From an early age , Alec was attracted to all forms of art, including painting, mosaics, pottery and batik.

Validation came early, when he won first prize in the ‘Young Artists’ competition at Salisbury’s Art Museum. Compulsory Military commitments in Rhodesia and a young family put a hold on his aspiration to pursue art as a career. He continued painting as a hobby, hoping that one day,  he would open his own studio and gallery 

After retiring in Chicago,  Alec moved to Mexico and fulfilled his dream by opening Artsi Galeria in Bucerias, Nayarit

Shortly after opening the gallery, COVID hit. Many businesses closed but Alec pivoted by offering to take his art to people’s homes. It worked and Artsi flourished. By the end of COVID lockdown, Alec had developed a strong client base and  established relationships.

Today, Artsi is known as a popular destination stop, where socializing and maintaining customer relationships is at the heart of what Alec enjoys most

A large portion of Alec’s art is shipped to customers in Canada and USA.

Inexpensive . Artsi provides colorful  ‘home decor’ wall art as opposed to ‘collectors art’. Customers can typically purchase 3-4 pieces at Artsi Gallery for less than a single  collector’s piece in an expensive gallery
